Gandrud in the Green Bay Community - Awareness Program

Every other month an organization is selected to be the recipient of the awareness program. For each customer survey completed in response to a Chevrolet service visit $5.00 is donated to the monthly cause and $3.00 is donated for each Nissan survey completed after a service visit.

 

Recipients

2015 May/June - Carry the Fallen

Donation to Carry the Fallen from GandrudGandrud Chevrolet & Gandrud Nissan Service Centers have donated a check for $900 to “Carry the Fallen” on behalf of their service customers.  During the months of May and June 2015 Gandrud Chevrolet & Gandrud Nissan customers returned a service satisfaction survey to their vehicles manufacturers.  Each of the 264 returned surveys equaled a donation to Carry the Fallen. 

 

The ultimate purpose of Carry The Fallen is to reduce veteran suicide and assist Military Families by

  1. Establishing camaraderie to cope with Post Traumatic Stress (anger, depression, loneliness, substance abuse and suicidal tendencies). Uniting veterans, families and supporters to care for each other in times of need.
  2. Training Team Leaders how to interact with suicidal veterans and the steps to assist them.
  3. Developing a Peer Mentor and Ambassador community of veterans, military families and civilians who support struggling families and/or veterans.
  4. Building a Military Family Retreat Location that will help reduce veteran suicide with outdoor activity programs, educational programs and job partners to hire veterans and families.

The check was presented by Sam McBeth (left), Gandrud Service Consultant & Vietnam Veteran, and Kevin Pearson(right), Gandrud Nissan Technician, uncle of Afghan war Veteran lost to the affects of PTSD. Accepting the donation for Desert Veterans of Wisconsin (Carry The Fallen) is Mark Bonovetz, (Center).

Connect Inc., a cancer concierge, is a nonprofit organization with the aim of providing free one-on-one, compassionate support for those touched by cancer. They help clients by listening to their concerns, doing research for them, making calls, filling out forms: whatever is needed at-no cost to clients.

Gandrud Donates to the Breast Cancer Family Foundation

The breast cancer family foundation is the recipient of donations generated by vehicle test drives during four designated Saturdays throughout October and November. In addition they also received a donation made based on the return of Customer Satisfaction surveys.

About Breast Cancer Family Foundation
Breast Cancer Family Foundation provides educational services with regard to cancer prevention. Their focus is on breast cancer awareness and prevention presentations in the community.

About Ben's Wish Backpacks Program
60% of children of the Green Bay Public School District qualify for Free or reduced meal programs.  However many of these children leave school on Friday afternoon uncertain if they will have food to eat over the weekend.

Ben's Wish Weekend Backpacks program is focused on providing healthy weekend meals to children attending targeted area schools during the school year.

The Weekend Backpacks program is a true community effort.

  • Local nutrition experts advise on Backpack content & nutrition.
  • Area volunteers pack Backpacks weekly.
  • Meals are supplied by local vendors.
  • School leadership assists in coordination of the program.

The focus of Family and Childcare Resources of NEW is to support the healthy child development through high quality education, support and programs to families and early childhood professionals. Parent Educators conduct home visits and parent group meetings providing support and to identify and prevent child abuse and neglect. Working one on one to help parents and families overcome obstacles and provide a positive start; setting a strong developmental course. Services are available to parents and childcare providers throughout Brown, Door, Kewaunee, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto and Shawano Counties. Visit their website.
