2015 May/June - Carry the Fallen

Donation to Carry the Fallen from GandrudGandrud Chevrolet & Gandrud Nissan Service Centers have donated a check for $900 to “Carry the Fallen” on behalf of their service customers.  During the months of May and June 2015 Gandrud Chevrolet & Gandrud Nissan customers returned a service satisfaction survey to their vehicles manufacturers.  Each of the 264 returned surveys equaled a donation to Carry the Fallen.

The ultimate purpose of Carry The Fallen is to reduce veteran suicide and assist Military Families by

  1. Establishing camaraderie to cope with Post Traumatic Stress (anger, depression, loneliness, substance abuse and suicidal tendencies). Uniting veterans, families and supporters to care for each other in times of need.
  2. Training Team Leaders how to interact with suicidal veterans and the steps to assist them.
  3. Developing a Peer Mentor and Ambassador community of veterans, military families and civilians who support struggling families and/or veterans.
  4. Building a Military Family Retreat Location that will help reduce veteran suicide with outdoor activity programs, educational programs and job partners to hire veterans and families.

The check was presented by Sam McBeth (left), Gandrud Service Consultant & Vietnam Veteran, and Kevin Pearson(right), Gandrud Nissan Technician, uncle of Afghan war Veteran lost to the affects of PTSD. Accepting the donation for Desert Veterans of Wisconsin (Carry The Fallen) is Mark Bonovetz, (Center).

Gandrud Auto Group recognized that their locations in Green Bay may be overwhelming for their guests. The three dealerships (Gandrud Chevrolet, Gandrud Nissan, and Gandrud Dodge/Chrysler) along with Gandrud Collision Center are all located on Auto Plaza Dr. "We also looked at our customer base; we see more and more independent women buying and maintaining vehicles. It's up to them, and there is often a bit of fear when asking questions. Not knowing leaves them vulnerable. We want to take the fear away, and help women gain confidence when it comes to their vehicle." said Verchelle Dehn, Customer Relations Manager for Gandrud Auto Group.

A program was developed with women in mind. "Women on Wheels" is an event designed to provide a safe environment in which women can ask questions and gain information regarding their vehicle. The W.O.W. event is comprised of several seminars, each providing helpful information pertaining to a different aspect of the vehicle. Gandrud team members conduct the seminars, and are available for reference.

Gandrud Auto Group Scholarship

Since 1992 Gandrud Auto Group has donated over $40,000 in the form of scholarships to area high schools for their Graduation Night Lock-In parties.  The scholarships are awarded as recognition and appreciation for the choice students make to celebrate their graduation in a safe environment; free of drugs and alcohol.  When students arrive at the school’s party, their names are entered into a drawing for the scholarship.  A representative from Gandrud arrives during the late night party and makes a random selection from the names entered.  The scholarship is valid for any secondary education program; college or trade school.  If the winning student is entering the military or going directly into the workforce, they can use the certificate toward the purchase of a new or used vehicle at any of the Gandrud Auto Group locations.  Gandrud Auto Group is proud to support area youth in their commitment to ‘celebrating in a safe way’.

Gandrud Chevrolet will be hosting the 6th annual two part "Race into Scouting" event to help youngsters in their first year of Cub Scouts. Activities during the event include outdoor cooking demonstrations, car kit carving, and a camp display.
